Everyone needs to agree with the boss's idea while appearing to reach the conclusion independently.

Example Usage

"We need to get alignment on this before we move forward." (Translation: Someone important disagrees and we need to have three more meetings about it.)

Origin / Notes

From engineering, where things actually need to be aligned. In business, it means "agreeing," which didn't sound important enough.
